Lot 1
William Reed built a modest dwelling ($35) on Lot 1 about 1845 and a much more substantial building ($255) between 1850 and 1855. The value of the lot rose to $452 in 1875, when it was owned by the National Stove Company and another increase in 1895 when it was owned by Gramlich and Eberly, suggesting an addition or improvement. Tax records suggest that the structure built about 1875 was not a house and oral history of the village suggests that it probably was a tobacco barn. By 1910, the total value of Lot 1 was $120 and by 1915 the value was $40. By that time the building(s) probably had been razed or were in poor condition.
